Before Your Session

What should I wear for my headshot session?

Solid colors photograph best — navy, charcoal, deep green, burgundy, and jewel tones are consistently strong choices for both studio and outdoor sessions. Avoid busy patterns, large logos, bright white near the face, and neon colors. A well-fitted blazer or jacket almost always works well regardless of industry. We recommend bringing two outfit options so you have a choice on the day. A detailed wardrobe guide is sent to every client when they book.

How do I prepare for a headshot session?

Get a good night of sleep, stay hydrated, and arrive five to ten minutes early. If you wear makeup, keep it close to your everyday look — camera-ready doesn’t mean heavily made up, it means polished and consistent with how you normally present yourself. For men, a fresh shave or neatly groomed facial hair makes a noticeable difference. We send a full prep guide covering all of this when you confirm your booking.

Should I get hair and makeup done before my session?

It’s entirely your call. Many clients come in with their everyday hair and makeup and get great results. If you’d like a more polished look or want professional camera-ready makeup, we recommend scheduling with a Denver makeup artist before your session.

Can I bring multiple outfits?

Yes, and we encourage it. Most individual sessions have enough time for two outfit changes, which gives you variety in your final gallery. For studio sessions, changing areas are available at Prism Workspaces. If you’re planning more than two looks, mention it when booking so we can allocate the right amount of session time.

What if I wear glasses?

Glasses are completely fine. We adjust our lighting setup to minimize glare on lenses. If you have the option to use non-glare lenses or frames without lenses for a few shots, that’s worth considering — but it’s not required. Many clients look best in their glasses and that’s what we go with. Bring both options if you have them and we’ll see what works.

How far in advance should I book?

For individual studio sessions, we typically have availability within one to two weeks, sometimes less. For on-location team sessions of 15 or more people, we recommend booking two to three weeks in advance to ensure your preferred date is available and give your team time to prepare. For large company events of 50 or more, four to six weeks is ideal, but again, we may be available earlier. Contact us to check current availability — we’ll let you know what’s open.

During Your Session

How long does a headshot session take?

Most individual studio sessions typically run 20 to 30 minutes. Outdoor sessions run 30 to 45 minutes to account for moving between locations and adjusting to changing light. On-location company sessions allocate five to ten minutes per employee depending on team size and setup complexity. We build sessions to be efficient without feeling rushed — most clients are surprised by how much variety we capture in a short amount of time.

Where is the studio located and where do I park?

Our studio is at 999 Vallejo St, Unit 42, Denver, CO 80204 — inside Prism Workspaces in the Santa Fe Arts District, about ten minutes from downtown Denver. Take I-25 to the 6th Avenue exit and head toward the Santa Fe Arts District. Free parking is available on Vallejo St and surrounding blocks. There is no parking garage or fee required.

What if I'm nervous or don't like having my photo taken?

You’re in the right place. At least half of Christina’s clients tell her exactly this before their session — and most of them leave saying it was easier than they expected and that they finally have a photo they actually like. Christina has spent twelve years helping people who are convinced cameras hate them get results they’re genuinely proud of. Her number one job before a single frame is taken is making you comfortable. Come in with an open mind and let her do the rest.

Do you offer outdoor headshot sessions?

Yes. Outdoor sessions are available at locations across Denver including Union Station, RiNo, Cherry Creek, Confluence Park, Washington Park, and downtown Denver streetscapes. Outdoor sessions are scheduled for the best natural light, weather dependent. See our outdoor headshots page for full details on locations and scheduling.

Can I see the photos during the session?

Yes. For studio sessions, we will review your photos on a computer so you can see how things are looking and make any adjustments to wardrobe, expression, or background before we’re done. This is part of what makes the process feel collaborative rather than one-sided — you’re not waiting until the proof gallery to find out if it worked.

What backgrounds and lighting options do you offer?

Our studio offers multiple background options including white, light gray, medium gray, dark charcoal, and select textured and color options. Lighting is set up specifically for headshot photography — not a one-size-fits-all setup but adjusted for each client’s skin tone, wardrobe, and intended use. Christina will help you choose the right combination before the session starts. For outdoor sessions, natural light and real Denver locations serve as the backdrop.

After Your Session

How soon will I receive my headshots?

Your online proof gallery is typically delivered within 24 hours of your session. Final retouched images are delivered within three business days of your selection. Rush turnaround is available for press deadlines, job applications, or time-sensitive needs — ask when you book and we’ll let you know what’s possible.

How many final images do I receive?

Every session includes two professionally retouched final images per outfit. You’ll receive a full proof gallery within 24 hours and choose your favorites from the entire shoot. Additional retouched images can be added at any time — ask Christina during your session or after you’ve reviewed your proofs. There’s no pressure to decide immediately.

What does retouching include?

Retouching is included on every final image at no additional charge. Our retouching approach is natural and professional — skin smoothing, blemish removal, minor color correction, and overall polish. We do not do heavy or unrealistic retouching. The goal is for you to look like the best version of yourself, not a version that your colleagues wouldn’t recognize. If you have specific retouching requests, note them when you submit your selections.

Can I request additional retouched images?

Yes. Additional retouched images beyond the two included in your session are available for purchase. Ask Christina during your session or reach out after you’ve reviewed your proof gallery. There’s no time limit on requesting additional images from your shoot.

What file formats and sizes do I receive?

Final images are delivered as high-resolution JPEG files suitable for both print and digital use. Files are sized and optimized for LinkedIn, company websites, press materials, and print applications. If you need a specific file size, format, or resolution for a particular use — a conference program, a magazine, a large-format print — let us know and we’ll make sure your files meet those specs.

Can I use my headshots on LinkedIn, my website, and in print?

Yes. Full usage rights are included with every session at no additional charge. Your images are yours to use on LinkedIn, your company website, marketing materials, press releases, speaking bios, conference programs, print advertising, and anywhere else you need them. There are no licensing restrictions, no attribution requirements, and no expiration on your usage rights unless discussed prior to your shoot.

Team and Company Headshots

How do we book headshots for our entire team?

Contact us with your team size, preferred location — your office or our studio — and your target date. We’ll confirm availability, send a custom quote, and provide a scheduling guide to help you coordinate employees efficiently. Most companies find the process straightforward once we’ve talked through the logistics. Call 303-931-5420 or use the contact form and we’ll get back to you within one business day.

How many employees can you photograph in a day?

For a standard on-location session we can comfortably photograph 20 to 30 employees in a half-day and up to 50 to 60 in a full day, depending on setup complexity and whether employees need time for wardrobe changes. For larger teams we can discuss multi-day scheduling or an expanded setup to increase throughput. We’ve photographed company-wide events across the Denver metro and beyond.

Do you come to our office for team headshots?

Yes — on-location team sessions are half of our business. We bring a complete portable studio to your Denver office or event space: professional lighting, backdrop, and all equipment. Your employees stay in the building and step in for their session as scheduled. We set up in a conference room, lobby, or wherever works best for your team. On-location sessions are available throughout the Denver metro area and across Colorado.

Can you match our existing company headshots?

Yes. If your company already has headshots on file and you need new hires or updated portraits to match, send us a reference image before the session. We’ll match the background color, lighting style, framing, and crop so everything stays visually consistent across your team directory or website. This is one of our most common requests from HR managers and marketing teams.

What happens if an employee misses headshot day?

It happens — employees get sick, have conflicts, or join the company after the shoot. Missed employees or new hires can schedule an individual studio session at our Denver location and we’ll match their portrait to the rest of the team using the same background, lighting, and framing. No need to reschedule another full company event. This is an ongoing service — any time you hire someone new, we can get them matched and added to your company’s headshot library.

Do you travel outside Denver for company shoots?

Yes. We travel throughout the Front Range and across Colorado for company headshot days. We’ve photographed teams in Vail, Colorado Springs, Boulder, Fort Collins, and at corporate retreats and conferences across the state. For companies outside our standard service area, contact us to discuss travel logistics, scheduling, and any applicable travel fees.

How are team headshot files delivered?

Final retouched files are delivered via an online gallery organized by employee name, making distribution straightforward for HR and marketing teams. Each employee receives their own folder with their final images in high-resolution JPEG format, ready for print and digital use. Proof galleries go out within a few business days of the session (depending on group size) and finals are delivered as they are retouched.
